Does DA not accept *.tar.gz uploads? Just wondering why it's in .zip...

Yeah, it rewrites the extension as a file_tar.gz. People should complain to DA so they can fix the issue for Linux users.

Hey man, I wanted to let you know that I made an updated theme set for this. You can see in the Description that I give you full credit. I just fixed the way that the package installs. [link]

I hope you are okay with that. :)

You are not the first person to bring this to my attention. It looks like themus overwrote the theme file. I have now fixed it on my end (there were also file permission problems that have also been fixed.

Thanks though

unzip to ~/icons/ for local install or /usr/share/icons for system wide. Use the local install, it's better unless you have several accounts that will use this theme.

When installing these they don't show up the Gnome theme manager. Any ideas?

Open the index.theme and add a "space" (by pressing the spacebar) somewhere, then remove the said space (using backspace). Save the file. It should show up now. Aware of the problem and still dont know why this happens.

How do I install these in gnome? sending the zip file to theme preferences results in bad file format!

unpack them to ~/.icons (local profile install) or for entire system install (as root) unpack them to /usr/share/icons

Ah I see. icons into ~/.icons and gtk stuff into ~/.themes ... I got the icons working, now for the themes. For some reason that's not working like it should ...

Your themes here are beautifully done!

It's close to perfect. It would be it's namesake if you changed just a few more icons from the old default GNOME theme to something closer to the rest of what you've done. (e.g. the folder icons). I do otherwise like it thouigh. I was using it as I wrote this.

yuck. They remind me of the "dark ages" of GNOME (before GTK2) when everything about GNOME was ugly. ;-)

Haha, sorry, you gotta come over to the darkside ;) Maybe Longhorn will support the best image file format to date: PNG! Actually if you are viewing the preview in IE, you will find its very dark compared to say Firefox or the image viewer in XP because IE cant even handle PNGs properly...fscking sad if you ask me. Big bad bug business trying to shit on open source yet again, even though PNG is clearly better in all areas than GIF and JPG.

Damn almost forgot. You would also have to rename them to the icon names your program calls for, depending on what you use (like Icon Packager for example). It would be one hell of a feat for sure.

Well you can find a program in windows that converts png to icon and then you can go through all 4400+ images by hand, one by one and convert them if you want. Have fun ;) but as it currently stands, nope no other way. None that I know of that is. Sorry.

Thanks. Yes, a lot of people have been telling me this. Never been a big fan of politics so if the Gnome people want to use it, all they gotta do is ask nicely and it's theirs for the use ;)
