Tango OOo Theme by Lokheed Tango OOo Theme by Lokheed
The unofficial Tango Open Office Theme. You are going to have to replace the original OpenOffice default GNOME icon theme on your system with this one, so back it up before you do it. This is not 100% complete but most parts have been Tango'ed. Large credits go to Jakub Steiner for the creations of the Tango icons being used.

Enjoy.

In Gentoo (thanks Conty), the paths are as follows:

Splash:
"/usr/lib/openoffice/program/"

Icons:
"/usr/lib/openoffice/share/config/"

Adjust /usr/lib/ to your distro's install path. If the theme is not applied, close OpenOffice, clear out the contents of "~/.ooo-2.0/user/config/imagecache," then restart the program.

Confirmed working with OOo Portable.

Why aren't these default?

Great splash, but could you make new version numbers like current 2.3 and future 2.4|2.5?
Or remove .0 from this splash to show just major version number.

If anybody wants to install on Windows, just put the images_industrial.zip file in C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.1\share\config or where you have installed OpenOffice...

I love you.

im so sick of looking at those OO.o icons from 1992 or some shit. Tango icons are by far the best looking in the world. thanks!

Another shitty request which will probably piss you off :)
Do you think it would be possible to a) release the intro.bmp modified for OOo2.1 or b) (better) release the .xcf or whatever version so I (we?) can modify it myself?

Thank you again.

No. Here is why.

(a) I don't have the .xcf, and (b) I no longer use Linux. Because I am on Mac OS X, I never have to so much as even SEE OOo any longer. I can't tell you how happy I am to actually have a viable alternative to that big heap of **** so that I may never have to suffer its use again.

Yea, I know you switched. Though I though you kept the original image you used to create the Gentoo OOo splash.

OK, I got it working, but mine looks all crappy windows classic style and not proper gtk like in the screenshot.

I've found why the intro wasn't displayed :) In gento intro file is called openintro_gentoo.bmp. Just replace that file with intro from OO Tango theme :)

Changing the toolbar size from 24px to 16px fixed the problem but still no new splash. I've even deleted whole ~/.ooo-2.0/ directory :(

You probably have your toolbar set to 24x24. This only applies to small icons (16x16).

And to change the toolbar size from 24px to 16px it's simple.
Tools > Options > Views > Icon size and style : select small.. and that's all..

Clear out: ~/.ooo-2.0/user/config/imagecache, then restart OpenOffice.

Excelent theme but it is not working on my gentoo box :( I've done all these steps:

# mv intro.bmp /usr/lib/openoffice/program/
# unzip images_industrial.zip && cd images_industrial
# zip -r images_industral *
# mv images_industrial.zip /usr/lib/openoffice/share/config/

but still have old intro and icons :(

That's strange...

contour ~ # ls -l /usr/lib/openoffice/program/intro.bmp /usr/lib/openoffice/share/config/images_industrial.zip
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 358854 2006-08-16 14:32 /usr/lib/openoffice/program/intro.bmp
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 5532861 2006-08-16 14:48 /usr/lib/openoffice/share/config/images_industrial.zip

FYI, I've got the openoffice-bin package. Maybe the paths differ a bit for the source package. However, you'd have noticed the errors about not existing directories, I guess.

The second possibility is Lokheed's changed the images_industrial.zip archive structure but that wouldn't explain the old intro.bmp splash.

The third possibility is you're doing something completely wrong.

Great :)

A gentoo "installation" guide:
Splash:
# mv intro.bmp /usr/lib/openoffice/program/
Icons:
# unzip images_industrial.zip && cd images_industrial
# zip -r images_industral *
# mv images_industrial.zip /usr/lib/openoffice/share/config/

Good luck ;)

Maybe that would be better to recompress the images_industrial.zip archive so people can skin the first two steps.
