Tango GIMP Theme by Lokheed Tango GIMP Theme by Lokheed
The official GIMP now comes out of the box with Tango icons. This set is no longer required. I encourage all visitors to get the latest version of GIMP to use the Tango GIMP theme :)

Again, all accolades go to Jakub Steiner's et al.

quick question, as I haven't bothered to get the new gimp (and I'm not gonna), is there any way to switch to the larger icons in the set? I've installed it, and it's a bit hard to see on my monitor, despite the visual appeal.

this looks really great. Does it work on Windows as well? My new GIMP needs a pretty dress like this. ;)

Yep, I've been using new GIMP for awhile. It forced me to have more sex with libs' compilation than usual. I even managed to replace glib on-the-fly and broke some programs with new gtk+ or pango ;P And finally I want to see it in a form of precompiled, well-integrated, easy-to-manage package :)

And yep, nice icons come with it this time :D

Copy the Tango folder to your ~/.gimp-2.2/themes folder.
Then open the Gimp, and go File>;Preferences and select Theme.
Click on the tango one and the icons should change accordingly.

Unless you're using Windows, in which case, find the .gimp-2.2 folder, and follow from there.

Yeah. These look fantastic compared to Gimp's original icons, I think. :O

Oh, and there isn't Tango icons on the latest version of Gimp. I assume you mean the " unstable " 2.3 version. :)

the only problem i have with this is that the icons are tiny, and the text is large, i dunno why this would be though.

Looks amazing. Could you also make a Windows Version or does this Skin work with the Win Version too? :)

I don't anything about the Windows version of GIMP, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. It sill uses the GTK libs. You just gotta find out where the GIMP folder is for your profile.

It seems to work but the icons are all shown in 16x16...but the ones on your screen look bigger...mayber 22x22? or is it 16x16 too?
Reply
:iconlokheed:
Lokheed Featured By Owner Aug 22, 2006  Professional Interface Designer
yes 22x22. This could be a windows thing as there are no 22x22 icons in windows. 16x16 is what they go to.

mhm, strange...but the image file which links to the images says that they have to be 16x16...but it's the same file as on linux and that one says 22x22...shouldn't it have the same px size?
